Kaa-san just told me my aunt emailed and said they put Waldo down. (He was my aunt/grandma's cat.) When we were down at their house a few weeks ago, he was sick with something like an infection in the brain; his legs would suddenly collapse under him when he was walking and he would fall over. They had him on meds and he was getting better...then, last week, when Grandma called for Thanksgiving, she mentioned my aunt was taking Waldo back to the vet--he wasn't eating and wasn't letting anyone touch him. He was put to sleep yesterday (Sat., the 26th) [Edit: I have learned he had HIV. No one is 100% how he got it, but they suspect from fighting another cat some time ago. Incurable. And they say he was in a lot of pain.]

(This is the only picture I have of him on my laptop.)

He was a stray that wandered up Grandma's driveway and decided to stay. (Probably helped that she fed him.)

He was named because they originally kept him in the garage, so whenever my aunt was backing her vehicle in, she and Grandma were always asking, "Where's the cat? Where's the cat?" So, since they were always looking for him, they started calling him Waldo. (If you don't understand that reference, go to your favorite search engine and look up "Where's Waldo?")

He was the inspiration for the stray cat Ronin in my "Oh Dear" fanfic.

Waldo, the kitten who liked to try to climb onto my head. Waldo, the getting-old cat, who only wanted to sleep in the sunshine.
Rest in peace, Waldo. I hope there's lots of sunshine for you now.

They bring so much joy, but losing them always hurts like hell. *hug*
